FORK

What:
URL FOR VIDEO: http://forkimprov.webs.com/apps/videos/
FORK Improv Troupe has been in existence since 2005 and has had the pleasure of performing in many places. FORK is a unique improv experience that incorporates audience suggestion and a childlike “Yes &” attitude to make real happen each time they grace the stage. FORK is based primarily out of Denver, but has been influenced by many improv theaters across the nation.
Collectively the members of FORK have performed at different venues in Chicago, Chicago Improv Festival, Denver Improv Festival, Boulder International Fringe Festival, Impulse Theaters, numerous productions at Bovine Metropolis Theater including Improv Hootenanny, Battle Royale, BMX, On The Spot, Bleu Cow 5 II and III and many others, The Dairy Center for the Arts, Denver’s Jazz @ Jack’s and other locations nationwide! In fact, FORK has even performed at the grand opening of Denver’s first Peanut Butter and Jelly store and has advocated on Marijuana Radio. Nothing is too “out of the norm” for this ensemble. FORK feels by pushing the limits and comfort zones of improv that it helps aide in a more solid, strong group togetherness of performers and audience members.
In 2008, FORK has had the pleasure of performing successful runs and shows with Jazz@Jack's, The Dairy Center for the Arts, Vintage Theater and the Bovine Metropolis Theater! They have also had the honor of performing at the Boulder International Fringe Festival and performing and producing the Denver Improv Festival. This past year-end, they kicked 2009 off with a new, successful conceptual show " FORK " A live, One-time only, disposable documentary at Chatauqua Park Community House produced by Around the Bend Media's JT Hammett. FORK was part of the first, ever improvised disposable film!
Most recently, FORK Productions has opened an entire new branch; producing and directing showcases or workshops to continue to enrich education in improv. FORK has produced numerous out-of-state shows, including a full-fledged National FORK Tour, alumni shows, workshops and much more! Jon Lannen, of FORK, has recently received national recognition for the endorsement of “Life Simplified” by Leslie Gail.
Having studied with names such as Joe Bill, Susan Messing, Jill Bernard, Eric Farone, Bob Dassie, and countless others, FORK has developed a show that incorporates a strong group mind and embodies the kid that is in all of us! Truly playing from the heart. Currently, the cast of FORK is represented by Jon Lannen on of the largest improv non-profits, The GroupMind Foundation. The GroupMind Foundation produces the Denver Improv Festival. FORK is excited for the future ahead, as their main goal is simply to learn and grow in the vast world of improvisation.

“The premiere traveling improv troupe in Colorado, FORK productions brings a fresh, new, cutting edge (and hilarious) view to the improvisational entertainment stage. Their credentials and experience stand with out need of explanation or embellishment and their paring of countless shows experience and exceptional business smarts gives Fork an unprecedented position in the national improv and entertainment market.”
-JT Hammett
Account Executive/Producer, Los Angeles, CA/ Denver, CO
Around The Bend Media, Inc.
“They clearly were enjoying themselves and that sensibility carried over to the audience”
Nate Melcher, Minneapolis, MN
FORK encourages pushing every boundary every show. FORK believes that an ensemble should be on one wave-length. On one mind. The act begins with the two actors taking stage right and stage left. A spotlight will be on each actor as they begin their monologues. Simultaneously. As the actors continue speaking over and under each other at the same time, the actors begin interweaving and connecting the stories. The audience sits in anticipation as they hear words and themes being ‘stolen’ from one another. FORK continues this until the actors get on one mind and end their stories on the exact same line at the exact same time. Pushing the limits of working on a group mind sets FORK aside form other ensembles.
Once the monologues have ended, FORK begins a long form set that incorporates audience suggestion, themes, and connections from all the stories heard. FORK has incorporated anything from musical guests from Los Angeles to having a movie projected onto the stage as the performance was being showcased. FORK stays true to the vision of acting on stage with no lines, but pushes limits to try to move the art of improv into a more experimental and conceptual art.",
